Would you be able to park here with a good concience?

At my local Walmart they have several parking spaces up front that have a green sign that says "Hybrid and Alternative Fuel Vehicle Parking".

Could you park your car there with a good conscience? I have no problem parking my vehicles there, as they all run on Waste Vegetable Oil. I believe that WVO is the most "Alternative" fuel that can be used. I have seen Hybrid vehicles there quite often, but more times than not, vehicles parked there do not meet the Hybrid or Alternative Fuel standard. Yes these parking spaces are not monitored in any way, but are there for use on sort of an "honor system".....Rich

...and you just know people are walking past your car, going, "That #&&*$@* thinks he can park anywhere he wants just because he drives a Mercedes..."

One time after I pulled out of the space, a guy in some sort of 80's ChevOldsmoBuick parked there, and I asked the guy as he was getting out if that was a hybrid or alternative fuel car? He said "shut the ***k up"!
I took that to mean that no, it was NOT a hybrid or alternative fuel vehicle. But yes I can still park there in good conscience, unlike the guy in the ChevOldsmoBuick.

I park in clean air vehicle spots if nothing else is available. My car pollutes as much/little as a Leaf when it's parked.

The bolded part made me laugh .

I totally agree with your parking there, since you are running veg. Frankly, I think you deserve it more than hybrid drivers, since you have to so much work into what you do. A prius driver just has to buy a Prius and then brag about gas mileage incessantly.

I don't see the point of having that parking space there in the first place. The only drivers that should get preferential treatment in a parking lot are the handicapped, elderly or electric vehicles that need a charging station.

I park in the "veterans" spot at home depot. I've always got the feeling those spaces are aimed towards the elderly, and not a young(relatively) veteran like myself. But to answer the question, yes I would park there without any qualms. But here in Seattle parking is at a premium, and as a result, all the spaces are TIGHT. So I prefer to park as far away from other people as possible. The "door ding" should be the state bird here.

Yes because I think an old MB is greener than a Prius. We are keeping our old cars out of the landfill and capable of running on B100.
