98/99 E300 EGR Delete Relationship to Other Components

If on a 98/99 E300 EGR is deleted at the ECU, what components, if any, are taken completely offline such that their failure would not even register? In particular I'm wondering about the MAF sensor but perhaps other components come into play.

Hypothetically and for testing purposes, my general question has to do with owning two identical cars, one with EGR and one without, and swapping components when a component (such as the MAF sensor) fails on the car with EGR intact.

I'll tell you my experience and you can take what you want from it. My EGR has been deleted for years now via the extra circuit so the ECU thinks it's still there. I had two MAF sensors fail during that time and register as unique codes.

After the second failure, I replaced the MAF with a resistor and it's been happy from then on.

Since your EGR is disabled in the ECU, it may behave differently. I have always been under the impression that the MAF was strictly for EGR validation.

That's my suspicion too. If that's the case, if/when the MAF fails on the 99, I can simply swap with the 98. Do you know of any other components that exist solely for the purpose of EGR?

Purely mechanical components are the only others I can think of. I removed and capped the insulated EGR tube from the manifold to the mixing chamber. I also plan on replacing the mixing chamber with a straight pipe when I have time.

Do an online search for egr shunt for the w210.
There is a mod using a few resistors and diodes that let you delete the egr without causing the car to go into limp mode.
The actual thread is on mercedesclub.org.uk .i cannot post a link as my iphone will not copy and paste for some reason.
By just blocking egr the car will go into limp mode.. The maf sensor needs these resistors /diodes so it fools it into thinking exhaust gas is still flowing through egr. Also the vacuum transducer near washer bottle that supplys vacuum to egr needs to be unplugged.
The site I named has the e300td on the first page, after that it caters for the cdi engines snd most of the newer engines out.
Thread is around 80 pages long but most of it is chat but skip through and look at it all

Does the 606.962 have a midstream flap to reduce charge pressure in the mixing pipe so more exhaust gas is drawn into the manifold? The 602.962 has such a flap.

I don't see anything like what the 602 has.

I know some folks just leave everything in place, but either way, I have block-off plate kits available....Rich
