Apparently EPC Down Again

Just when it looked like EPC was useable, now when clicking on a part states "*** Item no. not valid for this model des." This is after 15 minutes of trying to get it to run, and continually having to relaunch. Really need to make it for Macintosh O.S.!

All I wanted was to find common bolt lengths!

If anyone can help, be greatly appreciated!

It is working fine for me.

I don't know for sure, but I have never seen bolt lengths listed in EPC. Sometimes if you search a part number elsewhere, you may be able to find the bolt size/length.

I get the message that you got when I try to select a part not associated with the model I have entered. I don't know how to force it to give you a part number if you have the wrong model selected.

Shortguy, thank you so very much!

So, guess then will get all the lengths, which are only a few.

It is for everything for model 123 turbocharged North America. I have spent at least a half hour clicking and clicking and clicking and clicking... Searching the help and parts.

Can you look up what size screw holds the wire harness to the firewall?

Despite the fact that I paid about double the Cost for the CD Manual Set I have not regretted buying it.

As you have seen internet acess to free sites with the Manual can be iffy or in My case My dial up internet does not always work as it should on some sites.

So I have always felt that it was woth it to have the CD Manual set because it is always a reliable source that is there when I am going to need it the most.

I also purchased the W123 Manual Books but 99% of the time I use the CD Manual Set that I copied to the Hard Drive.

Diesel911, thank you so very much for the help!

I have the Service Manual on CD, but no parts, images are useless, and no 1985 California emissions applicable information.

I looked again, and just like before, there is only Parts Service Manuals for 1986 and newer; W123 left out once again. Where did you get your parts book?

Even the C.D.s I have use the internet.

I have P.D.F. scans of the Volkswagen Type 3 Service Manuals from a now passed friend and V.W. Factory Trained Mechanic, including parts, and love not having to go to the internet! Now, if I could get that for the W123, I would love it!

Again, if I could find a set of paper manuals, I buy them if I had the bread! I know of a set here in Arizona, but the mechanic doesn't use them and will not let them go.

I did not know the CDs for the newer models had parts.

Some of these sites will bring up a parts diagram but I cannot remember which as some are outdated. However, they usually show only the Part Number and not what threads a blot has. For threads I used the Thread Gauge that came in my cheapie metric tap & dies set. Later I bought a thread Gauges as the cheapie one was kind of minimal and Mercedes seems to use a lot of finer threads on stuff.

Diesel9111, I didn't say they did. It is a separate C.D..

We need pictures! So I attached a couple to explain where I am at. See the labeled bin? I created this for the Volkswagen years ago, but never finished. However, when ever I needed an M8 12mm long, I just go to the box and get it. Das ist alles! However, most of the collection is years of hard collecting, and like to avoid some of this, and have hardware on hand. I am tired of the very messy shelves, having to dig through stuff to find what I am look for, and not having what I need on hand. I am frustrated!

So, I know what bolt and nut sizes to get, but lost on screws...

Okay, guess then need to find a paper parts book.

I love Parallels! My future brother-in-law if he get his act together, turned me on, and SO worth the money!

Yosemite at first had issues, but some of it tuned out my mother board is acting up. Just need to make time and turn it in... Anyway, since Windows 7 Professional is free for me, I use that and works with the Autodesk suite. Yes, my Air does get a little bogged running 3D CAD programs (use four), but dispite what my professor says, it works!
