Are you sure your burl wood trim isn't plastic? My trim on my '99 sure look and feels like plastic.

Nope genuine burled walnut backed with aluminum for crash safety.

The lacquer they use is like glass when new.

Video that shows W210/W140 production process, there's a segment on the interior production in the middle. Just wish I could speak German....

This is real wood

I have a double-DIN center console trim piece in nice shape that I could part with....

The control box can be removed from the wood.

I would try eBay or the local yards.

Hint: get a subscription to EPC - epc.startekinfo.com - and look up your car. Navigate to the part in question and get its part number. Now take that part number and put it in EPC's search function. That will tell you every kind of MB that used that same part. They will be expressed as the baumuster number (i.e. 210.025). There is a chart in startekinfo.com under the MB workshop resources tab that relates the code to a plain text model/year.

Now go to pullapart.com and search for those cars. There are 6 pull-a parts within a few hours of Athens - 3 in Atlanta, 1 in Augusta, Charlotte and Columbia SC.
