2005 e320 CDI, how can I confirm if engine mounts are bad?

Car is new to me, some intermitant vibrations occour when turning not when going straight, it feels like possibly engine mounts but id like to confirm before I drop $200 or so on parts.

Can you see if the mounts are leaking? Do they seem mashed down?

Measure them using a feeler gauge. They are 17mm when new and 13mm is considered collapsed.

I use my 10mm socket, its OD is 13mm.

"$200?" I wish. They're $300.00 plus. OEM Genuine MB.

One telltale sign is the clay-brown colored residual hydraulic fluid from one or both leaking from the belly pan. Another indicator is the 1.800 RPM vibration coming from the exhaust cowling shield under the front seat area of the car.

I'd like to learn how this method is applied.

Generic pic. The one on the right measures 17mm, the one on the left doesn't......you can't see or use a tape, check it by feel.

Thanks, I'll give the socket method a try. I found them for $200 on autohauzAZ, I've had good luck with them in the past. I'm not getting the 1800 rpm vibration but sumething more subtle
