I think you have to be a little more specific in your thread title.
2007+ W211 Bluetek with the OM 642 V6 engine. Other wise you are just gonna have the reverse problem you are trying to solve in the other thread.

The European (overseas) version(s) were equipped with at least one other diesel variant powerplant that I'm aware of, the; 2.7 liter I6 CDI. The 3.2 liter I6 was never available overseas. I wrote many months ago that I felt the 3.2 liter, I6 to be vastly overpowered, thereby making it more of a gashog than it needed to be, when powering the W211 4-door sedans. The 2.7 liter I6 CDIs would light-up the rear tires from a dead stop, so why would you need the 3.2? American marketing, I guess. If anything, some clarification may be warranted. However, I interpreted the OP's message as written: "......variants which were sold outside the USA." |

Sorry- I was thinking that 2006+ = 2007 and beyond. This thread is for 2007 and later models NOT including the 2006 year.

I am of the opinion that none of the diesels MB sold after 1995 can hold a candle to the 1995 model in terms of ease of maintenance, simplicity, durability and economy of operation.

The wiring harness was also rebuilt and replaced (during one of the manifold removals. So "simplicity" is relative. Brakes with front rotors was easy as was replacing flex discs. That being said, I do really like my '95 E300 and did take it across the US and back this last fall. My CDI has 100k less miles and I have only had it for 6 months. Routine maintenance (fuel and air filter replacement) were as easy as the '95 e300.
