''He who hesitates...''

I sent the seller a deposit while we were on the phone thru paypal on my last
MB D buy. He told me I was the 7th caller. Most wanted him to 'hold the car' for them.

I called several times shortly after the ad was posted, but she didn't answer. Then she contacted back later that day to say it was sold but was waiting for the guy to bring money...bad luck on the call timing. I would have brought cash with me and she would have not had to wait on some dude...

Oh, well, win some, lose some.

Exclamation

Could be, since she had her phone number posted, and the calls were coming hot 'n heavy. 1st reaction - pull the ad. But it doesn't sound right, since you called right when the ad was posted. I'd watch for a re-listing of the ad.

Yeah, we will see. I'm not terribly heartbroken, as the car would not be for me, but I would have liked to get one of my friends in it since it looked clean.

She said it sold and she has a backup offer, so she may be telling everyone that while realizing that she was asking too low a price. Time will tell, but it's probably gone.

The body of her ad contradicted itself at least twice - first she said she didn't know anything about the car, then she went on to give numerous details about the car, including windows that didn't work. The part about the husband didn't have a chance to get the car running on bio-diesel made no sense, - any MB diesel will run on bio-diesel, IIRC? I think her phone rang like mad, and she got spooked, and is re-evaluating the sale. I almost called her too.

Well, if it is legitimately sold, I hope Walter K or another member nabbed it!

I gave her the benefit of the doubt that she had just found some records and was listing what the papers said. I'm guessing she got 25+ calls in those first hours (and I probably generated a few with this post!)
