Car with most number of options I have found so far.

It is currently in row 155 of the list.

Of the options I have found on the 147 cars on the list, this car is only missing Parktronic, Panoramic Roof, and Heated Steering Wheel. I could see my way to survive without those three given the other 14.

The asking price is above the average for the miles, but if you really want a teal colored car with almost everything on it, well, there it is.

As I continue to window shop, I wondered...are the CDI's being sold by MB dealers priced somewhat consistently due (a) to their experience as to what a particular car would go for and (b) to the amount of wiggle room to pad into the price? Or is there likely wide variation in pricing strategy from dealer to dealer?

It seems that there is quite a bit of regional variability in dealer prices. May have something to do with if diesels are even sold in the market traditionally.

You'll never know until you make an offer on one and go from there. Yes, their prices are somewhat consistently priced. But you've got mileage all over the place, so their pricing needs to be commensurate to that mileage.

I got mine over 20% off asking, and I negotiated another few hundreds of dollars in labor before I paid them the agreed to price.

I have updated the "sold" cars. I have started to add new listings.

I was out of town. Flew to AZ and drove my parents back to MN in their Odyssey van . Max. 6 hours on the road / day. Max. of 2 hours driving without a stop. Makes for a long trip, but you do what needs to be done.

The 400 mile round trip to and from my parents MN house in my new to me CDI was my first long trip in it. 10.01 gallons. About 30 miles non hwy.
One fill up doesn't mean much, pretty non scientific. But it was 5mpg better then the average of the last 8 fill ups and 3mpg better then the trip display.

This car is now on e-Bay. I found it on CL on April 4th with an asking price of $10,450. 147k

He has included the datacard information that I sent to him. He included the option percentage from the spreed sheet on a couple of items in his description.

I currently have over 190 cars on the list.
I check all the ad links about once a week to verify that they are still valid.
When the online ad goes away, I change the car's status to "sold". It may not be sold, but I have no way of knowing why the ad is gone.
When I add a new car ad to the list, I search the list for it's VIN. If it is found, I update that car's ad link and any price / mileage information as needed. I leave the original date that I added it to the list. I find that some of the "sold" cars show up again, so I update their information.

If you are shopping for a CDI, this list can be valuable by letting you know:
The options available and how rare they are. When someone claims their car has "all the options", you can say "not really".
How long the car has been on the market. ( At least since I started the list March 27th.)
What cars are really selling for.
Helps you to compare the price of cars with different mileage. The price is what you pay, the value is what you get. You may find more value in a higher mileage car, with all service and maintenance records up to date, then a low mileage one.

I have found some price reductions of $2000 to $2500 from the initial, above market, price. So, as SRJ has said, don't be afraid to offer 20% less then the above market asking price on a car you want. With the information on the list, you will also know a killer deal then you see it and just walk in with the ad and buy it without dickering.

If you find a car you are interested in, Google the VIN. There may be ads on multiple sites with different prices. I found one car, from a dealer, that had ads on 6 different sites. They all had the same price, but one offered a 6 month power train warranty and 1 year free scheduled maintenance. It would be nice to have that printed out and in your pocket when you walked in the door.

My wife has been driving the CDI on her 65 mile daily commute, 60/40 hwy/city and getting about 35mpg in the warmer weather. She was getting 33 in the winter temps. I have driven it on 2 longer hwy trips, 400 miles & 300 miles, and got 40mpg. On both of those trips, the return home was after dark. After those two long night drives, I love the active Bi-Xenon lights. I have HID lights in one of my W210's and these are even better. They are the best set of headlights I have ever driven.
