smearing when spraying windshield
I figured out where I was losing coolant, and why my windshield always looks way worse when I spray it. Anyone care to venture a guess?
And how I might remedy said issue?

I'll venture a guess. Leaking heater core?

Leaking ww tank heater. Both my cars had that problem. I was able to take the heaters apart and replace the o-rings. Leak stopped.

Thanks for the info.
I had the same smearing on my 1999 E300 windshield after a squirt of washing fluid. Took it apart today and the O rings were torn and distorted. Purchased a set of various sized O rings, one was perfect, reassembled and brought it up to temperature and pressure. Looks to be a thin O ring 3/8 ID.
