W210 trunk opens even with doors locked

I just discovered this on my 1999 w210. Thought i would post it to see if anyone had a similar problem while i tinkered.

The problem is the trunk will open even when the doors are locked. I accidentally pushed in the lock cylinder button on the trunk to open truck when the doors were locked and the trunk opened. The alarm went off. I tried to put the key in and turn the lock cylinder but i couldn't turn it. I'm thinking maybe a different trunk lid was put at some point and they didn't change out the lock cylinder. Maybe a vac line is disconnected.

Also, the trunk is hard to get to close and stay closed. You have to slam it to get it to latch sometimes. What is the metal thing bolted to the body called that you can slide up and down? I adjusted that a little and it seemed to help. But i wanted to see what a new one looked like in the parts catalog in case it is supposed to have some rubber on it or something. Is it a striker ? I can't find that for the doors or trunk in the catalog.

Thanks

It sure sounds like the trunk lid has been changed.

The key does not match.
The vac/pressure line for the actuator is not connected or the actuator is leaking.
And you have an alignment problem. My 210's trunk can be closed with gentle pressure.

Has your car been in a rear end accident in a former life??

Yes, sorry owners manual. But I seem to remember that in my W220 there was a little trick you needed to do like the synchronization process for sunroof, but the procedure escapes me now.

Ahh nice thought. I found this manual. http://www.mbusa.com/vcm/MB/DigitalAssets/pdfmb/ownersmanual/2002_e320_e430_e55AMG_e2304304matic.pdf
I have mine in the glove box i'll check. What is weird is the trunk and the drivers door , neither will move with the key. Perhaps the tumblers just went bad? Or the mechanic swapped out these two pieces . I know the sensors go bad on the doors handles so that doesn't surprise me. I pulled the device attached to the lid checked the vac line at the pump. There are two electrical plugs. The vac line pops the trunk open fine. I wonder if it is responsible for locking too? Or are the electrical plugs what do the locking and unlocking? I meant to put a vac pump on the vac line to see if it locks it.

I looked in the wiz and will look some more. That thing is a bit hard to navigate still for me.
