98/99 E300 Brake Wear Sensors
Where do the 98 and 99 E300 have brake wear sensors: on all four corners or just fronts and one of the rears?

According to the EPC for my 98, which is equipped with BAS and ASR but not ESP and obviously not 4Matic, there is a wear sensor listed. However it is qty. 1 so that means it's only on 1 wheel. I've redone the front brakes on my 98 and it has sensors on both front wheels. I haven't been into the back brakes on the 98 yet so I had to look in EPC for that.
The single sensor on only one side is also present in my wife's W164, it only has one on the right front and one on the right rear.

I think it was a weird arrangement, like two up front and one in the rear. Mine were in good shape so I pulled them out of the old pads and installed them in the new ones.

3 sets like Evan said. Both fronts and the drivers rear IIRC.

my 2000 model year has one sensor on the rear passenger side only but has one each on the front axle.
I have seen an older E320 (97 I think) - which had one sensor each on the rear axle too. Best just replace them when changing the pads, no need to miser out on a 1 or 2 dollar part - It usually has broken up when I tried to reuse it.
