Went to change the oil and filter in the '92 (om602) today... Felt like I needed to check/change the two lil o rings at the bottom of the "stem". Just ASSuming that I would have a matching size o ring in the piles of o rings that I have in the garage I went ahead a pulled the two old ones off. They were in pretty sad shape.. Shrunken and brittle. Broke when I pulled them off and could not find a suitable replacement in the stash that I had or at any of the local auto parts places.

Can someone please help me find these two o rings?? Not sure what to call them. Not near an EPC at the moment. Didn't see anything definite in the pelican. Need to get them ASAP.

Did you not get new ones in the box with the new oil filter?

Even more critical is the big one at the top. If that one is not sealed you will pump out all your oil in short order.

I don't recall ever getting those two small orings included in with the filter. Usually just the large oring for the lid and the washer(s) for the drain plug. Is there a brand that comes with the two small rings I the kit?

Oh yeah... Definitely make sure the big oring stays in place as everything gets closed up. Oil everywhere... Benz there done that.

I got the metric O-ring assortment at AutoZone when I did mine. One is a 7mm OD and one is a 6mm OD IIRC.

If you're in Columbia, shoot over to Shop Rd., exit 5 off I-77. There's a place called the "Hydraulic Shop", next to NAPA. They sized some O-rings for me. They knew everything there is to know about O-rings, Durometer scale, material, et cet. I got a set to rebuild a SLS pump (except the MB unique seal) for $1.90. Very nice folks !

You can order those two rings right from this website. It won't help you now - as they have to be shipped - but something to keep in mind for next time. Here is the link:

It's called an Oil Filter Housing Cover Stud O-Ring. It's a buck for 2 rings. Sadly those are not included in the oil filter kits. I found that out the hard way as well...

I think I got either a Mann or Hengst filter for my last OM603/606 oil changes, and I am almost positive they came with a full complement of o-rings...

The Mann filter kit for my om617 did not include those 2 rings. It did include the large oil ring for the filter house lid, and a crush washer for the oil pan.

Thanks y'all for the info. I had called the local dealership earlier today. They said they could have them in on Tuesday. Looks like it would take until the 28th to get them here from the pelican. Either way looks like I'll be driving the El Toro for a couple of days.

I have the blue case metric box set from Harbor freight. Works good. I change those orings every other oil change anyway.

If the same as a 617,, one each, 6mm & 7mm, but you can use 6 for both.
