Does anyone have a source for replacement (rust repair) body panels for w123?

I mean a North American source, apart from Home - Rust Repair Panels (distributor for Klokkerholm)?

I specifically need:

- right fender
- rear wheel arches

Klokkerholm has not shown fenders in the catalogue for some time. Now they apparently only carry the larger panel for the rear wheelarches, that is the arch and the lower rear quarter combined (2x the cost and not convenient for my needs).

Thanks

I suggest you just find a good donor for a fender or rear quarter. I just chopped out a rear quarter from RidgeRunner's donor car. Zero rot, and very minor surface rust in a few places.

Passenger Fender: Should be pretty easy to source one for about $100 USD, with zero rust, no damage, et cet. Shipping Greyhound is your better bet IMO. I will keep my eyes peeled if you want me to. The 2 fenders on my car were JY donors, with zero rust or zero damage.

TnBob: Yes, I am going to call them and ask about special orders, etc. I wasn't so surprised about the fender, they have been NLA for years, but the wheelarch was a surprise.

Greazzer: Sure, by all means, keep an eye out. Thanks.

Even by bus, however, the size of the w123 fender makes it pricey so SC would probably be the limit for how far I'd be wanting to ship one.

My situation is this: the passenger fender on my wagon was punched hard right over the wheel. I paid to ship a fender by bus from the Canadian west coast, but the guy was a thief... it's damn near as rusty as a local one. I am not bad with bodyfiller, takes me a long time but I've done it before, so if push comes to shove I can hammer it out and probably make it look okay. It won't take much more time than fixing the one I had shipped in.

Either way I'd like to avoid all that jazz and just bolt another decent one on.

Zach,
About 8 years ago, I had my front fenders replaced. Maaco, who used to be in Kingston, did the job for me. They were about $100 or less each. Still good although I had to paint the insides which were only primed. Don't know where they sourced them, but they had them in a few days.

I was at another shop getting a quotation on another car when a delivery of sheet metal parts came in. I made a note of the source. It was Keystone. They have locations throughout our area. They may only be wholesale.

Another one I bookmarked, was Cross Canada Collision Parts Specialists - Order Online. Not sure, but I might have got that off sticker I found inside my fender when painting.

Last Chance Auto Restoration, who did the rust repair more recently on my car told me that they buy panels from a US source. But they mainly do VWs, so that may not help.

Thanks for the suggestions, Graham. I looked up those suppliers and no luck. I also got some hits on Google but when I visit the sites, there is no more stock, including the parts vendors selling good used.

Someone still has stock obviously, judging from this German eBay listing: 100 Euro for the SET of both sides??? Eeek.

If you can source a piece from a parts car, even if you have someone ship you a cut off section, you will be starting with a better base. The klokkerholm panels are half the thickness of the original steel.

Having said that i ordered some full rear quarter pieces and they look pretty good installed

On this side of the water in addition to Klokkerholm there's

Embo

Van Wezel Autoparts

I can usually get the van Wezel ones cheaply but the shipping for a real person will be silly money...

I can ship an aluminum hood from SE USA to California or Washington State with $500 insurance for under $75 bucks, so I am betting a fender is less, even to Canada. Any connections right across the border ???

The parts wagon I have has a lot of rust in the rocker panels... I'm happy to cut whatever you want off it and ship it where you like.

Short answer: Yes. I have a mail drop in Ogdensburg, NY 13669 where all my parts go to. Shipping into Canada on almost anything larger or heavier than an injector is no longer viable and sometimes goes awry (remember that last injector you sent to me, what was it 20 days or something?).

Longer story, general FYI: All the postal and courier rates go through the roof as soon as you bring the border into the equation, Canada into USA used to be the worst but as of about six months ago USPS went completely off the reservation on its international charges. I bought a wagon taillight from another member and we both got a huge surprise when he took it to the post office: $48 for plain vanilla parcel. More than he charged me for the part.

The couriers are actually worse and they impose more restrictions on size (for non-commercial shippers). The w123 fenders are bad for that as they calculate the box size based on the largest width dimension... and of course the w123 has that weird thing where the front wraps around into the headlamp door. Boosts the price a LOT.

That would be great, but if it has rocker rust, are the wheelarches sound?

I don't mind cleaning up some surface rust but if it's eating the lip I'm not any further ahead. Same for fender.

I have attached a pic of the klokkerholm piecem, for an idea of what I am looking for....
