OM606 Brittle Rubber CCV Bends

If you want to R&R the E300 injector return lines you will probably break what was once flexible rubber bends on the plastic CCV pipe to move it out of the way...well I did and at both ends. The dealer price for these fittings is cheap, $7-8, but are not typically stocked. So rather than drive with CCV gases clouding up the engine bay waiting for the dealer to get them, here is a simple solution.

Your local auto parts store should have a selection of pre-bent rubber hose, Napa for me, so get a few U shaped ones with a few inches of hose before and after the bend. I didn't see any 90s and the extra length allows for mistakes when trimming. The ID I found that works is about 20mm.

Cut the hose to fit, snug the plastic pipe and viola back in business and I think this should be a longer term fix as well. It is easier to work from the front to back of the engine when putting it all together.

Just consider yourself lucky that you don't have the insane non turbo CCV system with 12 outlets.

Yes! I'm curious - where does the far end terminate? Does the system feed into the turbo intake?

This system is for the NA version of the 606 engine—no turbo!

The CCV plumbing is indeed a disaster. I replaced most of it in my '96 E300D and the PO did the same in my '95 E300D.

It feeds into each of the 12 intake ports, separately. On my they were all either cracked, completely broken off or clogged. Heres how the stock system looked.

I plugged up the 12 holes with RTV

And ran my own CCV hose out from under the plastic cover.

To an oil separator near the washer bottle then back to the intake pre filter. Along with EGR delete the system keeps the intake clean.

Max, in the attached diagram #71, one of the previously flexible rubber fittings connects to #74 which goes down the drivers side of the engine to the cold air intake just before the turbo. Very simple design compared to a NA....
