W123 Transmision swap advice

I have a 1980 300TD that I love and runs amazing, but it's rusting out in all the usual spots and not that much of a looker. I see a beautiful condition 1982 for sale that has NO RUST and in great shape. One main issue with it is that it's trans has a front seal leak and non working 4th gear (at times). I'm debating on getting my trans taken out of my 1980 and put in the 1982. I'm sure it's pretty much a direct replacement. I am not capable of doing the work. I could, but having a shoulder surgery soon and not going to attempt it.

How much would you think it would be for a place to swap then trans for me? I know prices can vary greatly, just seeing what a ball park figure would be to see how much I want to offer the other person for the 1982.

Unless the 1982 is a non-turbo Euro, the transmission will not swap over. The 1980 has a 722.118 trans and the 1982 has a 722.315 trans. Two different animals with the latter designed for a turbo engine.

damn....well glad I checked first then. I thought they were the same trans through all the years. Mine of course is N/A and the other is turbo.
