I was surfing and came across this image. What is the tilted brass looking canister that is on the right side of the power steering pump in front of the cruise control actuator?

X2 though it looks like a filter housing/ h2o separator mounted upside down

looks to be the same color as the discolored expansion tank in my 300td, and the discolored sls tank.
