82 300d electrical issues
 

I've got an 82 300d that continuously blows the fuse kickdown/temp control/reverse light fuse. I can hit the kickdown switch without blowing the fuse, and the problem seems intermittent, so I am trying to narrow the search. I have disconnected the climate control thermostat, the climate control monovalve, and still the fuse blows. Is it possible that the reverse light switch is shorting out? What about that obnoxious buzzer? What else is on that fuse that might make it pop? Gone through a dozen or more fuses by this point.

So I have tried disconnecting the door switch, the entire climate control module, and still no luck. The fuse does not blow, but then if I start the car while it is warm, the fuse blows. Sometimes. Help! I have the car parked until I can figure it out. It is summer, and I don't need heat coming from the vents. But I do want the kickdown operational. I am about to bypass the fuse panel entirely and run an inline fuse to the kickdown and change the climate control to manual. I would rather not do this

And where is the door buzzer located?

Possibly a pinched wire for the kickdown switch?

I use the kickdown all the time, and there seems to be no relation between that and blowing the fuse, but it is worth a look.

Have you gotten a test light and connected it between the negative terminal battery post and cable? I have even used the rear dome light....just unplug it and put it between the negative cable n post....anyways...that is the best way to find a short as it will light up if anything is drawing power or shorting to ground...

Another thing that runs off the kick down switch plug is the seat belt warning device...it is not unpluggable on its own...the cable would need to be cut to disconnect power....or maybe remove the hidden relay for the seat belt warner buzzer thingie..

Where is this hidden relay for said seat belt warner buzzer thingie? Any chance a blown relay would pop the fuse?
