1981 300 TDT
 

Question for those that know these wagons. Did they have a tach in the 81 turbo?

It has been like 15 years since I owned my 81 turbo wagon... so do not hold me to this ...
I do not think mine had it...
and you have to keep in mind with MB STUFF.... that they did not change parts according to YEAR.... you have to check the VIN numbers to say anything definitive about a change on them..

I am looking at a 1981 this weekend and noticed in the pics it had the big clock and not the tach. He is claiming 198000 miles. I thought maybe someone had changed the cluster since all the turbo's I have seen have a tach.:confused: But when I went on line I notice pics without tachs in turbos so I was confused.....as usual :o

Plug the VIN into the EPC, check the datacard for the option codes, find an option code decoder...

What model designation is on the hatch, 300TD or 300TDT? I know many 'Mericans have decided that the Krauts used the wrong name (speaking of which have you seen the Hitler parody on YouTube about the new GLA?), but I'll bet the hatch says 300TD...

The hatch does say 300 TD :eek: I put the extra T on there so most will know it is a wagon or should I say estate :cool: I was inquiring about.

I've seen the 1981 turbo TD without a tach. I can't recall if I ever seen an '81 with a tach.:confused:

That is good procedure in my opinion.

If it's the car I think it is, it looks like it could be a good deal, tach or no. Good luck!

How about we all use the numbers instead of letters? The OP car would be a 123.193, no confusion at all then!! (ducking...)
