OM606.910 timing device part no# please.

Hi,

Can someone please help me with a part number?

I do not have access to the EPC and my local dealer isn't able to find it!

Whilst investigating whether I have a vacuum pump with a caged bearing, (I don't and will order that today) I noticed some concerning wear on the rails of the timing cam behind the vacuum pump. It almost looks as if it has been starved of oil at some point.

If anyone gets a free five minutes in their day, could they please look up what the part number is for this cam and also the bolt which attaches this cam to the back side of the injection pump as a previous country mechanic has touched this at some stage with what looks like a pair of multi grips

Benedict,

The number for the timing device is 6050700645 see my PM. If you find anything more about the bearing let me know. Seems that no one else knows either since I have got no replies

So the '95 still has the little "roller coaster" type assembly where the wheel rides up and down on the face of the gear?

The timing device is probably horrendously expensive from the dealer. If I had the chance, I would swap out the gear and vacuum pump from a later model with the vane type pump.

Maybe a wrecking yard?

Will do and thanks for PM. Yes, not much info with regards to the timing device for these models. I guess like all moving contact parts though, they will have to fail at some point. Mine seems a bit premature at 166k miles.

Hi KarTek, yeah roller coaster is the best way to describe it. The part is almost the same price as the vacuum pump itself. The OM606‘s are extremely rare here in Australia especially W124 but there are a few more (now high mile) W210‘s floating around that could be due for wrecking.

I have to weigh up the risk though, because these pumps are a ticking time bomb.

Possibly swap in the vane type pump from a '96 and up OM606? You would need the timing device and vacuum pump among other small bits.
