w123 wagon headrest hardware

I have a wagon and a third row seat ready to be installed. However I am quite annoyed at the price one has to pay to get the headrest hardware. Yes, you can find them occasionally on forums and on ebay, but it's hit and miss. MB wants $250 per headrest for the hardware. There's got to be another option.

I've pulled some w124 wagon headrest hardware and I think I can adapt them to be used in a w123 wagon. I'm at the point of fabricating the bracket to do this.

I'm wondering if I should just cobble together one for myself or would anyone be interested in me having a machinist make a few?
