om602 leaking motor oil in front

I parked my 93 300D over some cardboard and it is consistently leaking in the front at or near the tranny(?) cooling lines. before I crawl under it is there any areas that are prone to leaking on an OM602?

How old are you tranny cooler lines & your oil cooler lines? Or did you think the leak was coming from somewhere above on the engine?

Oil cooler lines, oil cooler itself, front main seal, vacuum pump gasket, valve cover gasket. Those are off the top of my head.

I cleaned the engine with a degreaser and the leak has not reappeared yet. I get a wiff of burnt oil from the turbo but I can't see anything leaking on it

I assumed when you said "motor oil" that it's dark black oil leaking, not red.

OK, just wanted to be sure.

Best advice I could give is clean the areas mentioned in my post above, and watch them to see where it's coming from. You already cleaned, so now it's watching time. A good tip is to get a can of aerosol foot powder and spray powder around areas you may think it's coming from. The white powder shows the leak right away.

How's the oil consumption rate?

So it's not a large leak.

Now that it's clean, drive it a few days and throw yourself back under to check it again. Watch oil pressure like a hawk.

leaks from the same area, the disagreeable part is a little drop will fly up onto the exhaust/turbo and you get a wiff of burning oil in the compartment for a moment. I'll have to figure out a way to make a splash shield
