1987 mercedes benz heads

took of a #14 head on a 300sdl.Want to put on a #22 updated head.
does any modifications have to be done to accomplish this

Assuming the new head has not been "skimmed" or "re-surfaced" to restore it to flat, then you can use a "regular" head gasket.

If the new head has pre-chambers for inclined injection, then you will need the newer injectors and perhaps different glow plugs as well (your old non-inclined injectors will not fit in the new head).
