85 300sd injection pump vacuum system
 

I am running the motor as a stand-alone, no emissions or transmission. The only vacuum components left are on the injection pump. Both the vacuum control valve and and ALDA are present. Are either necessary in the running/performance of the engine? Also, I intend to use the manual stop button for shutting down

Are you going to be running at a constant speed - like a generator?

The vacuum control unit (7) in your picture isn't going to be necessary - I'd just leave it there

As for the ALDA - you might be best off leaving that with the connection to the turbo too because it not only corrects for altitude but corrects the fuel input for the boost...

...many people junk all of these bits though

Just to add, If you are using it as a constant speed motor, you could either remove the ALDA or leave it hooked up. I wouldn't leave it on an unhooked as this will limit fueling and power.

its in a toyota, I had read some opposing info on the ALDA's purpose. Some people were removing and some people were not. The vacuum hose runs from the back of the intake to the ALDA. There is also an outlet there at the ALDA where the line splits, would this be a good place to install a boost gauge?

Sure. Also, remove the banjo bolt on the intake manifold and clean it since those often clog w/ gunk.

Sorry to be picky, but the ALDA connection is a pressure line (manifold pressure caused by the turbo), NOT a vacuum line.
