Jp:

When you removed and inspected the KD solenoid, was there a small O-ring on the brass tip of the valve? If that O-ring is missing or damaged, the KD valve can leak enough to prevent an upshift to 4th gear.

If the trans shifts to 4th, the engine speed will be about 3300 RPM at 60MPH.
If in 3rd, 4800 @ 60.

New problem !

I'm now stuck in first

I went shopping with the mercedes , to buy stuff for HER , on my way back , I did a stop... and it never wanted to leave 1st gear... what a way to thank me for buying her goodies

My ATF fluid level was a little low , a little bit under the minimum mark.

I re-ajusted the fluid level and it didn't change a thing...

Jp:

1) Loosen the clamping nut on the front section of the drive shaft, so that the spline can slide.

2)Pry the output yoke (the three-legged flange on the back of the trans) fore and aft. If the output yoke can be slid along the output shaft even a little bit, the governor will no longer be clamped on the shaft (there is no key), and the governor will not spin with the shaft. No governor spin=no governor pressure=no shift.

It seems to be time to drain the trans, remove the pan and filter, and inspect for any obvious pieces in the pan.

Jp:

Do you have any knowledge of service work on the transmission? Work that involved removal of the valve body?
