Happy Independence Day to my US friends
Best wishes for the 4th from Canada.
BTW, technically I am American. I was born in Queens, NY, while my father was posted in NYC with his company. |
Thanks.

Explosive back at ya! Fireworks, hot dogs, and baseball! Hoo ra!
|
Thanks and happy 4th to everyone! I'm spending it by ripping up a house I've owned for less than a week
Sent from an abacus |
Thanks, Z.
Mom was actually born a Canadian but moved here with her Mom and American step-dad as a toddler. She thought she WAS a Gringo for many years (even was an election worker) 'till she applied for a passport. She was afraid of deportation but Dad's lawyer sorted it out quickly. So I claim Canadian heritage. Dan |
4th July
Hope y'all had or rather are having a great day.
In Canada, we had our fireworks day on July 1st, but out neighbors might have thought we were celebrating Independence Day today. We had a large group at our home. All generations. Cars parked everywhere. Just 4 Benzes, and they were all mine :) My Mother-in-Law passed away in mid December last year (at 102!). Instead of trying to get family to travel and make funeral arrangements at that time, the family decided to have a Memorial today. Chose July 4th because US relatives could get time off to travel. All the best. |
Thanks for the best wishes from Canada Steve.
Iam in the American Legion here in Carson City post#56 Honor Guard. We posted Colors and were the lead group in the parade in Virginia City, Nv. Carrying the US, State and POW/MIA flags and the 5 for each service. There wer 13 of us in the group. For such a small town it sure was packed with people. Charlie |
Congrats on that parade, Charlie.
I find that often small towns have the most fun and best supported special events and celebrations. Which service were you in? |
Navy. Went in Sept 62 got out Sept 66, so ya, a Vietnam vet.
After Boot Camp and Radio School, spent the next 3yr 21day on an old WWII Destroyer, DD-729 Well actually it was the same age as I was. You are right about small town turn out, they really get into it. Last weekend on Oct is Nevada day, that is when Nevada was admitted into the Union Or became a State. Talk about a turn out, Wow. The Parade is about 3 hrs long. At the Nugget Casino, they serve free Chilli, and the Governor will be there in line serving. Charlie |
