After receiving the photos, I knew I had to share it with you all. I have not seen the car in person, but as good as the photos are, I know they don't do it justice. Even the underside of the car is detailed (I hear)! When I receive the wagon photos, I will post them.....Rich

Note no Bowden trans cable, due to a manual unit.
It wouldn't have had one even if it was an automatic. The early autos used rods instead of a cable

Now this is interesting. I didn't realize it was possible to use an older steering wheel on a W123. Any idea what modifications were needed?

What is the device on right side center with cable leading to top of valve cover
what is the second tube to the air cleaner for?
Although I've never seen it in the metal I've been told the thing on the right is for cruise control (I hope I haven't been mis-informed)

The second pipe to the air filter comes from the vacuum pump - tis a vacuum pump "exhaust" from the diaphragm type

I know on the sunny side of the planet dash board covers are a necessity but I really don't think the fuzz suits the car!

It is there to hide the unsightly cracks that would detract from the awesomeness of the rest of the interior.

Yes it can be done. Here is how he did it:
As for the steering wheel, I took a column shaft out of a W114 and cut/ welded/ tuned down/ modified it to work, but kept the outer plastic turn signal/ cruise control housing from a W123 . I then machined a custom spacer making sure the horn ring contacts would work and there would be no slop or play in the wheel. If I were to do it again, I would try to incorporate a bearing into the spacer to give less friction between the steering wheel hub and the column. I also had to trim out a bit of plastic from the W123 turn signal housing for the larger diameter W114 steering wheel.

Although the thought was that the car was originally 2 tone from the factory, the 2 tone is NOT original.
