1984 300DT: Upper Control Arm Bushings need replacing.

The upper control arm bushings need replacing on the 1984 300DT. I've noticed that there are inner and outer bushings for the upper control arm, two each per side. Do I need to replace both the inner and outer bushings are is replacing the outer bushings sufficient?

you just buy replacement UCA's
there are only inner bushings-the outer are the sway bar end bushings,
stay away from uro.

moog iza go deal

You can replace the Upper Control Arm Bushing if the Ball Joint is still good.

Astated the 2 outer rubbers are for the Torsion/Sway Bar and are seperate parts. Note that under those rubbers is a common place for rust that rust through the tip of the sway bar.
The Swaybar rubbers bushings are 1163334014 you need 2 for each side.

The Upper Control Arm Bushings are 1163336314

Check the Number with Pelican Parts to be sure.

x2 on both points.

Stay away from APA/URO, Febi, anything marketed with a north american brand name (dorman, ac delco, etc.).

Lemforder is best apart from dealer, but pricey.

I have Moog on both my cars. Seem to be good quality/value balance. You need to go to the auto Rock for them.

There are really no brand names available for the swaybar bushings, not last time I checked anyway. I used Rein and URO on my cars. Both were made in China and the Rein did not fit, way off spec and had to be ground down, the URO were fine.

I would go with the Lemforder Control Arms.
$50 here on Pelican and add $100 more from the dealer.

$7 more on the place in AZ

I would replace both of those bushings.

This makes the most sense given that the UCA has to come out in order to replace the inner bushings, which are going to cost about half of what the complete UCA costs (Phoenix @ $14.50/ea. on PP). The outer bushings on the sway bar ends don't come with the UCA, so that's another $14.50 for the pair (genuine MB @ 7.25/ea. on PP). If these bushings are worn out, then the ball joint probably isn't far behind.

Charlie is correct. Last time I priced the Lemforders they were considerably more.

Moogs are a bit more than half that. For the difference, the Lemforder is a better buy.
