no start connected to hood...yes.. gremlin story

hi guys

I just had opportunity to observe yet another electrical gremlin issue
with key turned no lights on instrument table,. can not start of course..
moment I release the hood lights come out and starting is possible..

this repeats whenever I shut down the car... does anyone had gremlin like this.....my best guess is bad connection somewhere on fuse box or similar...
or perhaps squashed wire...

what do you guys think?

thanks
ChO

release the hood meaning you just pop it or actually lift it up?

Is the battery under the hood? Does it have a couple of smaller wires at the positive battery terminal? If so, the bundle of wires may be loose and getting pushed by the hood.

If this is the case, it will be a really bad situation if bare conductor touches the hood. ( burnt paint , wiring.

There are several ground points I would check as well.
Battery to Chassis
Chassis to engine

There are also 2 main grounding points on the fenderwells, behind the left and right headlights.

With the hood open and the engine running, what happens when you close the hood? Does the engine quit?
