how to replace aluminum side trim
One of the aluminum runners on my door has fallen off. I tried to shove the trim back into the holes on the door but it will not stay. I also noticed some pushback and wanted to glue these to the door?
What kind of glue should i use? Also, how would you hold it down while it dries? A normal clamp would not be deep enough to hold the runner. |
Don't do that unless your car is already a total beater. Google this part number: 001-988-20-81. The correct way to put that trim back on will be cheaper and faster than messing with an adhesive.

how do you remove the bent and cracked red clips from the pegs?

You'll have to carefully cut or pry them off.

The original style red grommets are tough little buggers.
Use a utility knife (wear safety glasses) and try to soften them up with a heat gun or heat up some water then soak pieces of rag and wrap them for a couple of minutes. Same goes for the reinstall, they are much easier to work with when softened up (the original red style go in fairly easily but the newer white/clear ones are impossible to work with unless heated). |
