Seems like the CD takes a different center pipe + resonator than the sedan? No joy yet for that, unless you can adapt the sedan version in which case Amazon has that as well.

Concerning the OE stuff:

Have you checked Mercedes-Benz Parts and Accessories Online from Mercedes-Benz of South Atlanta ?

Thanks for the link to Amazon. That Eberspaecher muffler will not fit. Specifically:
"This does not fit your:
1985 Mercedes-Benz 300CD"

The only Eberspaecher item on Amazon that is stated to fit the 300CD is "Eberspaecher Header Pipe"

Regarding Mercedes-Benz of South Atlanta. I have not checked. Reason: I have done searches for various parts over the years, they came up as a confirmed supplier with part availability, and then after contacting them, every time, they have responded with something along the lines of...We don't have that.

I'll give them another shot though.

Thanks-

FYI...

Mercedes-Benz of South Atlanta for one center and one rear muffler (availability not checked):
$474 (exclusive of shipping)

FWIW I just put a $110 Walker super quiet fancy pants muffler from NAPA on my truck. Nice and quiet :)

I typically hose around with $25 knockoffs and get frustrated, spending the extra was worth it this time.

Also, these are supposed to be the cat's meow for performance but not being too loud:

I've never tried them, but the design looks alright to me.

Yeah, actually a friend of mine has had the same hit and miss experience with them, but it was on smaller items. For some reason their web-facing listings don't seem to get updated when things go NLA.

Napa was one of the first places that I looked and I was surprised to discover that they had no mufflers for my car (checked online). Maybe it would be different if I called. I just might do that.

Aero Exhaust has some nice looking stuff! Thanks for the link.

Go by what you KNOW fits, not by what Amazon's automated stuff tells you.

For instance if I am to order an ATF service kit (pan gasket/filter) for my SD, it comes for a CA model which has some different pan gasket. So I have to order parts for an '84.
