I then tested the R4 pressure and noticed that it is very very low (most of it is gone). but how is this possible? You tested for leaks...

It held a vacuum fine for 1 hr. define fine...

did i misinterpret your instructions? whose instructions?

my buddy is an AC expert and will check the oil for me (but i didn't want to waste his time before checking if it held vacuum).

The chance that he will do it as right as you could have done with following our advice is slim.... people in the industry have shortcuts they think work just fine...
You could have had it really right for much longer than the usual AC guy.. no matter how nice he is... will do it...
Unless he studies what have been preaching....
I told you up front doing it correctly is very tedious .... but you claimed you wanted to do it right....
