OM603 Injector # 068130201E???

I started removing my injectors over the weekend. As I was cleaning the injector which was in the #5 cylinder, I did not see any MB markings. The part number also did not look like a Mercedes number.

It did however have the logos of VW and Audi on the outside. The part number on the injector is 068130201E. Is this part compatible with an 87 300 TD? If not, did it possibly screw anything up?

Thank You!

glenn

PS - This is not my DD. Hopefully this will be my wife's Benz.

I don't think you screwed anything up but that PN is for a VW 1.6 non turbo IDI engine, 135bar. Your engine will definitely run on that injector but it'll run better on MB injectors. I have tried VW injectors in the past and they smoke more than MB injectors. Some VW guys use MB injectors as a "high flow" upgrade to their engine and MB owners have tried VW 2 stage AAZ injectors. Either way its kind of irrelevant since the flow rate is determinted by the injection pump not the injector. The injector just controls spray pattern. MB injectors use a very narrow spray pattern compared to VW injectors.

Hmmm, could be that injector is a rebuilt injector, and although the body has different markings, that actual injector inside the body is correct.

I think that what you have pulled out of your engine is the injector assembly, which consists of the body (two pieces) that has the injector, shim and spring inside. The body can have markings other than Mercedes on the outside, but be just fine if the injector inside is correct.

Or it could be like my experience, I had MB injector bodies but VW or Audi parts inside. I sent my injectors off to greezer to be rebuilt and lo and behold he found non MB spec parts inside. He was able to rebuild them with the proper parts, but wow who knew.
