Odometer running fast

My odometer started running about double time yesterday. Clocking up the miles quickly at this rate. Anyone had this issue before? 91 350SDL. I've replaced the gears in the past and haven't had any trouble with it lately.

Odd. Be sure and post what the issue turns out to be.

Ok. I took out the dash and oiled the gears - didn't change anything.

I believe a 126 is an electronic pickup on the tranny. i would start there.

The speed is correct on the speedometer. Just the odometer is in turbo mode. Wouldn't they both be effected if the speed sensor were bad?

The 126 odometer is gear driven. Likely a gear has slipped into the wrong position.

Ah.... missed that.

Fixed it - Gear was bad

One of the gears had a tooth missing. That is all I could find wrong and it really doesn't explain why it ran fast. I replaced it and now it works fine. I just happened to have the gear I needed in my left over parts from fixing the non-working odometer a year or two back. All is well.
Thanks for the help!! :)
