OM617 valve adj/lock nuts stuck together

I got all exhaust and one intake valve adjusted before running into the nuts stuck together. I don't want to torque on them too hard. A .1 feeler will not fit, but .005 does, so there is some clearance.

Thanks for your input! Happy Saturday.

I think you are going to have to torque harder. I don't forsee any other solution. You could try a few heat/cool cycles with a torch but you may fry the stem seals.

Be sure your wrenches are a good tight fit on the nuts. If you haven't already, remove the injector hard lines and get a box end wrench on the top nut and see if you can't jam an open end against something for the bottom one.

A heat gun might be a safer alternative.

With the cam follower removed, yes; with the follower still in place, no.

So I had three stuck in total, and I managed to loosen all of them using the most forceful finesse I could muster.

Now I have the issue where one of the adjusters is not making any adjustment. Trying to open up the gap, but the top nut does not seem to be doing anything. Is this where the third wrench comes in?

The third wrench grabs the large nut at the top of the valve stem but below the two adjusting nuts. I made my own valve adjusting wrenches and in the first attached picture you can see the one for the large nut. The second picture shows the large nut that you want to hold still while you adjust the gap.

The bottom nut moves when moving the lock nut down, but not when moving the adjusting nut down. I'll give this a shot after breakfast.
