I'm putting together standardized tool and parts kits for my 123s.

I'll probably have some more, but right off the top, 10mm Allen wrench and duct tape and JB Weld (maybe JB Quick) and knife.

In trunk around town, I'd carry a set of fuel filters. Wrenches to change them. Fuses. A 17mm open end for bleeding injector lines... That's it... Now for a trip I'd carry more but it's just not needed near home.

Right now in my trunk I've got:
A radiator A glow plug relay A rear view mirror An aux fan A shut off actuator A VCV Two turn signal housings Plus a full socket set, a tool box and another tool roll full of tools BUT that is because I was just pulling stuff at the junkyard and haven't unloaded it yet Normally I don't carry much. Fuel filters. Voltage regulator. Some fuel return line. Basically just a few things to fix stuff that can suddenly and without warning strand you somewhere but that are so easy to fix you'd be irritated to have to tow the car as a result. And of course the tools needed to do the above, and change a tire. Otherwise, for anything more, I just have a tow service through my car insurance. Then again I do lots of preventative maintenance so the plan is to not break down!

Good thread
In addition to above -Spare relays -Spare hazard switch -At least a quart of all fluids (brake/steering/oil), water -I carry a small hydraulic jack and jack stand. Don't trust that oem jack deal. I wonder if the GVW is exceeded carry all this stuff? haha

I tend to be OCD on this stuff -- tool-wise -- but I must admit I don't bother with belts or hose inserts. I remember that I did carry belts when I had my first 300sd but they just rotted in my trunk over the years.
The pipe inserts are a very good idea. Oddly I don't think anyone mentioned bulbs. I carry one H4 and several of the others. Also a thermostat. And hose clamps. Time to rationalize my trunk toolbox again as it's morphed into a 25-pound monster.
