SLS pump rebuilders?

Who still rebuilds SLS pumps these days? Is the only option out there C&M?

Some.of the places in older threads seems to no longer exist.

For your '88 wagon? MB sells rebuild kits for a reasonable price, but that is basically new seals so if there is deeper damage, you'd have to check on availability for parts from MB.

I recently replaced the tandem circuit pump in my '95 sedan which a used pump from a pick-n-pull, about $30 and works fine. I've got a rebuild kit for the old pump but haven't had time to do that yet. That and I found one of the mounting ears on the aluminum casting was broken and will need to be repaired.

I had a good experience with Universal German Auto for my SLS pump on my 83 300TD. They sent me one that was rebuilt, I sent core back. Found it was cheaper to deal with them over the phone versus using their ebay store.

I don't believe my pump is damaged. I believe I don't have enough internal pressure for the sls to work.

Maybe I should give my hand at a rebuild first then.

The Febi reseal kit is $20 while the MB reseal kit is $80. Is there a large enough difference to be worth the additional cost since its only a set of seals?

Given the overall iffy quality of Febi products currently, and in particular their rubber parts, the answer is: probably yes.

Unless you want to repeat the job in two years, I would go for the dealer item.
