Try to sell ... or part out???

Can't get anyone interested in buying my 85 SD. It has to be worth $2500. Highest bid on Ebay was $1000.
Maybe I should just start selling parts.
Any other ideas out there?

You could just wait and see if the right person just has not seen the notices yet...

What about it makes it worth $2500? Overall good condition, not extremely high miles? If miles are really high and condition is fair or worse, you won't get much for it. Plus, market for old MB diesels is really sagging these days.

It may be better between now and Xmass..... as Diesel locally is $2.18 .... Below gas prices....prediction is that it is going down farther...

You could try autotrader. The fuel prices being comparitively low has just about ended the homebrew biodiesel makers. This has severely reduced the demand for diesels, and thus the prices have fallen... ALOT.

I just looked at the for sale thread with pics. Pretty car. Working AC is a big plus. Salvage title is a big minus. Maybe drop price to 2 grand and see if you get bites. Or wait until tax return season as suggested above.

If I were able to buy a third MB, I would be getting a car like yours...

Try selling in NJ? Nice older cars are reportedly going for more and more money in that part of the country. Offer to deliver for the cost of the airline ticket back home, get the ticket and a non-refundable deposit (to cover the cost of the fuel) in advance.

A friend has one formerly driven by his son and I think he's been trying to sell it for years for about $2000, no bites. Nice car, everything works, but high mileage and 30+ years old now. WE know they are fantastic cars.

I'd buy it, if I were in the market and closer. But I'm not your average shopper. The average shopper is scared away by two things in your ad 1) salvage title and 2) 300,000+ miles. Even though the price is probably OK even with those two factors, the average Joe or Jane is going to move on to something less questionable - to them - for around the same price. They won't take the time to talk to you about the implications or any mitigating factors (regular maintenance, repairs done after the salvage incident, etc).

So you either wait it out, as the right buyer will eventually come along, or you lower the price to sell faster.

Best of luck!

Exactly why does it have a salvage title...and what has been done to correct that ?

Sale thread says one fender got backed into. On cars this old anything more than a curbed rim will be a "total loss" according to insurance.
