1982 240d flexdisc/yoke NEED HELP

First time poster

So my 240d flex disc decided to go to crap and with it my transmission yoke.

I have a new flex disc and the diff out of a 300d of some sort for the yoke (came with the car when bought)

I bought a 12 point 30mm deep socket to remove the yoke nut from the diff and it wont budge.

First question, will the 300d diff yoke even work on my 4speed 240d trans?

Second question, how do I get the yoke off the diff because I have tried REALLY hard and it wont budge? Could I be doing something wrong here and if so what might that be?

Last question, if the 300d yoke does not work or I continue to fail at removing it can someone help me find one I can buy online? I have looked everywhere and I cant find one AT ALL.

Thanks guys, all responses are appreciated here and I really need help.

Is that nut a deformable one? I think you need to get in there with a punch to bend it out so you can remove it.

I would doubt if the Yoke for the Differential is the same as the transmission Yoke.

But, People have posted various sites where you can look up the Mercedes Part Numbers for both and compare the part numbers to see if they are the same.

Once in a while you find out the Mercedes has put the part number on the part themselves.

According to the FSM, that may have a nut with a collar that has to be peened to unlock/lock. You should have a new nut when re-installing the flange.

Also, before you remove the flange, you will need to check bearing pre-load of the differential. This is needed to ensure the correct tightening of the nut. It is easily done with a dial torque wrench to see how much torque is needed to start the input pinion shaft to turning.

On mine, I had to make a homemade tool to resemble 116 589 10 07 00. Basically, I bought some bar stock at Lowe's, cut a short section to make the arm, then drilled and bolted it together. Then I bolted those ends to the ears of the differential flange. I couldn't get enough leverage without it.

Here are some links to help you out:

Quick question, could I fill in the worn out portion with a welder and drill it out would that work?
