Uh-Oh! Broke my Idle Control Cable. How can I temporarily adjust curb idle?

I need to adjust my basic idle, the end cap broke off my idle control cable and it came unbraided, slipped out of its little connector end and it is now useless.

Attempts to fix the cable have resulted in the engine idling at 4,000RPM. I have undone my "fix"

I've heard tell of a way to adjust the car's "default" idle setting via an external screw / locknut on the injector pump. This would be temporary until I can get the part in... it's just not in the budget right now.

Can anyone tell me where this screw is?

I need to force a fast idle condition so I can use my A/C without worrying about stalling whenever I put the clutch in... as it is right now the idle is so low it barely runs. I think someone's tinkered with the IP in the past though, because this car has much, much more power than any other 240D I've ever driven.

My car is a 1982 Mercedes 240D.

Is the part even still available? On every non-turbo I've laid eyes on this cable is broken. I'd love to replace mine, and my friend's on his '79 300CD.

Well, I haven't ordered it yet! I was under the assumption I could still get it - is there an alternate solution if I need to bypass this? I don't mind if tweaking the IP idle set is a permanent fix, but don't know exactly where I can find the screw. Don't want to f*ck something up

Kludged it for now with a zip tie. Going to carry a razor blade in the event the engine runs away (unlikely but... you never know) off to church I go

Made it there (30 mile roundtrip) and back without a hitch. Beautiful, smooth high idle with A/C blasting ohhh yeahhhh

Razorblade is to cut the zip-tie so I can use the STOP lever. Hahaha... She does NOT want to run unless that idle is raised. I checked with an optical tachometer out of curiosity and the idle was at 550.

So I definitely need to find that screw on the IP, and bump the idle to 750 baseline. That little cable will be setup so that it'll bump idle from 750 - 850 and all will be good with the world.

When the money comes in I'm buying me a cable, and I might have to pull the IP and get inside it if I can't find the external idle set screw.

Awesome, I'll get one ordered ASAP when I have the cash! I also have to find that little white dime-sized "keeper"

Any chance you know what the part number on that is?
