1977 300D Bowden Rod for transmission?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone might know where I can get bowden rod parts for my old 300D. Pelican Parts dosen't seem to carry anything regarding that. And I don't know what the terminology that Mercedes uses for it!

One on my car is pretty worn out..the pivot on the side of the block in particular flops around like a dead fish. The car shifts fine into 3rd right on the first shift mark and then jumps into fourth about 10mph above that and then it is pulling so low RPM that it just sort of crawls and I live in a sort of hilly area so ya easier manually shifting it. So I'm assuming that the bowden rod needs adjusting. But its got so much slop in it I think trying to adjust it would be a waste of time...until I get it a bit tighter. Any info is much appreciated!

There aren't many of the cars with that particular setup left on the road outside of Morocco, Death Valley and maybe the odd shed in the LA area - or so I would imagine, as it was only used on the really early cars. You may luck into finding someone here who knows about the bits and pieces, tho.

If you can shoot some pics of how the rod it set up, that would help. I owned a car with the transmission control rod, but never messed with it or even examined the setup carefully (sold the car on). (BTW just FYI: "Bowden rod" is slang and not an actual part name. People use it because the rod does what a Bowden cable does on the later cars, more or less, but a Bowden cable is a distinct entity.)

If it's set up like the other linkages, a certain amount of slop is normal. Do the pieces have ball-and-socket connections, or something else? I ask as the balls and sockets can be changed.

If it's something more exotic/specific, you are going to have to deal with a dealer. You could start by calling up the parts diagrams at the website of that Atlanta dealer who sells online:
