W201 IP interchange

I want to swap the IP between two W201 190D 2.5's, an 84 and an 87. There seems to be something mounted on the side of the 84 IP that is not on the side of the 87 IP, and since things are real tight in the 87, it would probably hit the airbox. I have no airbox on my parts car to follow the IP with.
A few questions,

Will the IP's interchange with some/no issue?
Can I take it off, what function is lost if I do?

What would/have you done in this sitch?

Thanks,

The MB classic center has confirmed the same IP for both cars. Some accessories may end up being swapped.

The 84 is a 2.2 engine 4 cilynders the 87 2.5 engine is 5 cilynders. I don't understand how the MB classic center confirmed that a 4 cilynder pump will fit a 5 cilynder engine

I emailed the VINs to the classic center and asked. Simple inspection confirms the donor is a 5-pot 60x.

My only indication of the year comes from the title of the parts car. If TEH INTERNET must be correct, then the state is wrong. As longs as it bolts up bangs on 5/5, words can be what they be.
