Another new 06 CDI on forum

I had baddd experience with my 11 GL Bluetec (very dealer friendly).
So I was looking for a CDI and a week of negotiations, I got an 06 CDI with 78k, one owner and was able to get a VMI from my service adviser all work done at dealer, inc. new glow plugs, no work performed on SBC (it may be ticking time bomb) 2-3 oil changes performed at local Euro indies. It was a European delivery, came with the hazard triangle in a box that was never opened and a little Grill logo that was never installed. The paint is Black Opal (it is really dark dark blue metallic) and Gray interior, Harmon K with CD changer and Nav., no split rear seats, the trunk has missing spare tire. The couple who are in their 70,s have no idea where it is or since when it was missing. The tool kit or the jack has never been used either. Lights are active curve bi-xenon with washer, rear sun-shade, heated seats etc. I probably paid too much it will be aprox. $13k (tough cookies did not wanted to part away) after I get out of DMV office . But it is in impeccable condition, looks like they did not drive too much on Freeways as I saw 3 places where the paint has chipped or at night as the headlight don't even have the yellow hue that builds up at least here in TX heat. I am sure I will be asking question in very near future for help. Yes like Skid Row said it is a rocket!!

Don't feel bad about paying a little extra for one with nice low miles like that. If you own it long term, the extra money will be inconsequential.

If you want, you can provide the dealer with your VIN and they will tell you when your SBC warranty expires....mine expires next July.

Good report, and sounds like a very nice loaded CDI.

The xenon-active headlights are sounding terrific. Mine doesn't have em, but I was more concerned with condition, miles, Carfax, and VMI-records when I was shopping for one. Mine's pretty well stripped, but does have the heated-seats. I feel I paid a low-fair price at the MB dealership I bought it from, as contrasted with the Kelly Blue Book pricing on-line. Glad your purchase went through, alipak!

Ya, I have to see when my SBC expiration date on my '06 is too.

I have the lights on my 05. I love them. Seems that now that i am in my 40s, I don't have the night sight that i once had. A great option to have even if the bulbs and starters will nickle and dime you.

Titled it and hand washed it. Took it out to drop my sister in Rockwall. On the way back had to use the lights, sure is bright but couldn't tell it has active curve system. Need to figure out how to change CD Command system from German language to English (dash display is English). Any advise on spare tire. I got the size from the door but I presume it will have to come from a MB, Audi or VW as they use bolts rather then nuts. Am I correct? Will take some pictures this weekend to post. By the way noticed at night that it has ambient light in front and rear wondering if it is standard feature!

That ambient light feature is pretty cool....I noticed that as well.

Do you have the rear window shade? I thought it was mainly to keep sunlight out but found it's really helpful for night driving...keeping others' headlights from being too bright.

Look through the menus, the word Sprache is language in German.

I don't speak German but have played around with enough European control equipment to remember that.

Had a busy morning and now rejoicing OK vs TX game. Have to go through the menu to see why cluster is shows English and Command show's German. Jay-bob will let you know the outcome. Sherman yes I do have rear shade. Good to have it here in TX.

I think the price you paid is pretty good. I'm also looking at one this weekend with the same miles, one owner, and it's a bit more.

First price them (donut wheel and tire space saving spare) through the MB dealer, then work out from there on the Internet and from your indy MB garages.

PP members here should collectively come to answer where a fresh, reliable replacement space saving spare the car was originally equipped with may be sourced Nationally.

The lugs are bolts on this car.

What is ambient lighting?

Recognize that utilizing the shade at night in the rear window will diminish other visibility you may need to see in all nightime viewing needs. Like tinted windows at night do as well.

Did OK win? If so, the score?
