Lubricate the pivot points. Something's dry and you just need to find what it is and lubricate it with something. MB recommends ATF for the ball and socket joints of the engine throttle linkage. For the pedal, I'd use Lithium grease for more staying power.

I agree with lubing but first get in there with a light and see if there is any evident wear damage both at the floor where the pedal assembly attaches, and at the pivot on the arm under the dash, where the pedal joins.
You can get the bushing for that pivot point separately from the online vendors, and even the entire pedal assembly isn't pricey.... and in my experience the squeak may be a warning of impending failure from age.

If the matter is ultimately determined to be one of lubrication being needed, I would opt to use the legendary M-B "Gleitpaste Lubrication paste" (001-989-46-51). That is the for 500g container (has lasted me many years). Some third-party vendors re-package it in smaller containers.
As for finding the source of the squeaking, I would follow the given advice here: Get in there with a light, remove the detritus that has accumulated in the area and on the components over the years, then analyze functionality and determine if the matter is worn out parts, lubrication required, or both. |
