The Michelins that you speak of have been a great value so far I've put about 15k miles on mine and they are holding up great! The way I've looked at tires since my last two accidents (due to worn out tires), as well as two near accidents is this:
the tires are the only part of the car that should contact the road. Therefore, I may have fresh brakes, fresh lines, fluid, excellent driving ability etc, if my tires have poor traction they the rest is irrelevant. If you ever have to drive in conditions less than 75 Degrees F and sunny, buy tires for those conditions.
For example: I live in a place were is rains so violently that it's a kin to a whiteout during winter; which also happen here as well. I buy tires based on conditions for a day like that. Or when in stop and go traffic on the highway, and someone slams on their brakes, I can either swerve out of the way or quickly depress my brakes as well. The tires may cost more, but since the car is my Daily Driver, my safety and anyone who rides in my car becomes my number one priority. If Lamborghini puts michelins on their cars they are what I want on my cars.
