Are '95 glows plug as much of a potential pain as '99 glow plugs?
The glow plug light on the '95 comes back on for a few minutes after hitting the road and it starts kind of rough lately - suggesting a bad plug(s). I've been through 2 ordeals with snapped glow plugs on the '99 TD - knowing that they are both OM606 engines are the GPs on the '95 going to be as bad to get out as the '99?

Yes. Exactly the same.

I've not had problems with any of the GPs on either of my two 606 engines. My technique (you probably already know all this): determine which GP has failed. Spray your favorite penetrating oil onto the head around the GP. Drive the car until it's thoroughly warmed up. Before the engine cools, spray more penetrating oil around the GP and, using the appropriate extenders with a 12mm deep socket, try to loosen the GP, being careful not to use too much force.
It may be necessary to retighten the GP and then loosen again, gradually working the GP out of the head. The only GP that gave me trouble was the very first one I removed from the 1996 E300D. That one was somewhat carboned-up due to a functional EGR system. Since then, the EGR has been temporarily disconnected for testing purposes and all of the GPs have come out clean. In the 1995 E300D I've changed only 3 GPs so my experience is limited but none of them have been troublesome. Jeremy
