don`t think the Oil/Temp/Fuel gauge has anything to it. I swapped a Fahrenheit
one in our 80 240D and our 85 300D. Didn`t affect anything.

Yea I just hooked up the wire to the temp sensor and it works fine......I thought it wasn't working cause it pegged in the hot for awhile at idle but all the hoses were cold. Then The temp dropped and everything was fine. I had a mean air pocket and hope I didn't hurt anything ;(. I also have the glow plugs wired up just as if MB themselves did it using the advice in this forum. Speedometer works and I repaired the odometer. For how long I don't know. I had to rough up the shaft to get more friction but I still am unsure if that's enough. Also had to swap shifter assembly's as the 81 is different then the 77. Also has a different back up switch so I had to cut and pigtail that in. Bunch of small obstacles but aside from a very leaky valve cover gasket everything is perfect. Thank you all for the good advice. I will take some photos of the car tomorrow and post up some links.

Nice looking 240. Replace the brown rubber pieces under the tail light, with
set off a 300D Turbo. They have the chrome piece on them. Will dress up
your car for sure.
