Who do I get diesel smell out of clothes?

Last week at the pump, I turned on the pump without noticing that the lever was locked in the on position. Needless to say, I got diesel fuel pumped all over me.

I can't get the smell out of my clothes. They've been washed 4 times. I've added Pine Sol as well without ridding the smell. Is there someting out there that works?

Thanks...

If you can find some TriSodiumPhosphate... used to be called TSP but they are selling stuff now called that which does not have any phosphate in it... which was the cleaning agent...
THis is what the local laundry used to get real grease covered rags clean.. I mean where you wipe the old wheel bearing grease on the rag and it is a 1/4 inch thick wad... Dissolve this stuff in hot water,, put the items in , agitate, and let sit overnight, then wash with regular washing detergent... good luck,,,,If this does not work refer to last post.... LOL

This is really no help, bui I can"t resist (with apologies)

1) Move to Oregon. State law mandates someone pumps your fuel for you.

2) Get a gasoline-fueled car .

3) Take a friend with you, ask him to fill the car while you head for the restroom (works only once)

4) dab a little behind each ear before you go on a date and no one will notice your clothes anymore.

5) If all else fails, I defer to Mc Can.

I was going to say time, but... 20 years ago I worked on diesels. I have some old work clothes in the garage - they still smell like fuel oil.

When I was in the Army there was a generator operator that was always spilling diesel fuel on his fatigues. I can't for the life of me remember his REAL first name, because we all called him "Diesel."

Good luck,

Ha Ha! I get the idea... I guess I've got some new shop clothes now.:p

I like the TSP idea. I've got a whole bunch of towels and rags that are almost black from working on the Harley and the other Mercedes.

I was just swinging the fuel nozzel around to the filler tube when the fuel came out and hit me square in the chest! About 2 gallons came out before I could turn off the pump.

I noticed that in NJ, attendants have to pump the gas, but it is also cheaper than here!

I guess they got tired of burnig their clothes, too--

The worst encounter I had was swapping out the flex lines from the bottom of the fuel tank on our -79 300D-- I got a 1/2 gallon running down my arm before I could get the new hoses on.

State law requires the attendant to pump the gasoline, but you can pump your own diesel.

That's NJ for you!

Living in NJ

Having lived in the midwest and now in NJ, given the choice, I would rather pump my own fuel. Not only didn't I have to worry about spilling fuel all over the car when I did it myself, but it was alot quicker as I did not have to wait for some guy who is managing 12 pumps on his own.

Evidently in NJ, for employment reasons, the general public in not allowed to pump their own.

Fuel is cheaper as taxes on fuel are very low....unlike all of the other taxes in this God forsaken state.

Why do you want to get rid of the smell? My wife tells me it turns her on. I use it everynightday before I go to bed

HGV-

1.) Where is your wife from?

2.) Did she have her own set of tools when you found her?

3.) Does she have any sisters (cousins)?
