Photos of steering knuckle repair.

Here are the photos of one way to assist in getting the steering knuckle to seat properly when installing the upper control arms. First, do it like Vtech said, get BOTH wheels off the ground, things will go easier.

Then, place a jack stand or hydraulic floor jack under the axle but close to the brake rotor. Use a piece of 2X4 lumber on top of the jack stand or floor jack. Then slowly lower the car onto the jack stand or floor jack; you will see the spring slightly compress and notice the steering knuckle traveling UPWARDS.

Then, you can use this rope idea; tie a half hitch in some strong rope (narrow enough so that you can still attach the nut to the ball joint bolt), then wrap the rope around the steering knuckle and the back side of the ball joint. Pull hard on the rope and VOILA!!, the steering knuckle will slide on up on the ball joint bolt giving you ample room to attach the nut. Tighten down the nut to spec and you are ready to go!!
