Where is the proper park position for mono wiper?

How low should the mono wiper be in the park position? I'm wondering if the wiper arm should be as low as possible on the driver's side, so it isn't even seen when not being used.

My '95 E300 parks the monowiper on the left side, as far down as possible. OTOH, my '96 E300 parks on the right side. Not sure if that is normal/correct, we're not the original owners.

My 84 190D parks on the right side, and my 85 190D and 93 190E parked on the left side. I think MB went from "park it out of the driver's view" to "park it on the driver's side so it clears that side of the windshield first."

I have exact same car. All the way down on left, but you can still see it. At its widest, you can see about 2" of glass between the wiper blade and the window seal.

Low on the left was standard, at least in the US. But you can adjust it to park anywhere. I've seen them adjusted to park straight up in the center, which is really poor placement, but to each his own.

That's called the "DTM MOD" over on Benzworld and The Rev.

No that's not the stock park position.

No, but if you feel better with it there, that's fine.

Years ago my dad had a 1999 W202 C220 CDI Elegance (turbo diesel), 5spd manual (this was in Europe).

I clocked a lot of miles in that thing, since I had just gotten my driver's license and my dad let me borrow it all the time. Great times running around with my buddies in "The Benz".
I loved that car, even if it wasn't mine. Hated the severe turbo-lag though, absolutely no guts below 2000 RPM.

Anyway, that car's mono-wiper used to park on the driver's side when he got the car, but then at some point the wiper mechanism broke and after the dealership repaired it, suddenly the arm parked on the passenger side.

heh, I figured since it was the ONLY monowiper parking in the center of the windshield it was a problem... but, it is a beater, and it works.

when it finally fails, I'll swap in a replacement from one of my parts cars.

Replace your r10 relay .Its the cause of wiper stopping in any place on the screen.Along with other problems that will show up.

Interesting. I thought it would be a failing transmission gear or something. It's an electrical problem then... I might play with fixing it then.

Yes it will do because you drive on the correct side of the road.

It could also be a mechanical problem. The half moon gears do die

I've put up some pictures in my silly large W201 thread - about page 39 =>

Achtung - Das schweinhund baby benz thread

(Link goes to that page)

Differences between the SWF and Bosch mechanisms shown. Bosch is way more common - SWF parts turned out to be very expensive.
