What exact oil level do you get after CDI oil change?

If you change the oil on your CDI, drive to operating temperature, and then let sit overnight, what is the exact oil level reading you get? I was careless and spilled some oil so am not sure exactly how much I put in.

FWIW my reading is 6.8 quarts after sitting overnight, which is certainly good enough. But suspicion is it's about 10 oz. low. No big deal...just like to get things perfect. And I want to be able to monitor oil usage (if any).

Thanks.

DAMDIFINO - but that's something I haven't been concerned with, when maybe I should. I've first got to get the scrolling down right to get to the engine oil level!

Where are you getting the exact oil level reading? Can you get it through the dash screens? I've changed my oil at least 10 times now. I suck the old through the dipstick tube with my trusty Harbor Freight vacuum pump, put in 8 qts of T6 and a new filter and call it good. If I want to feel comfortable, I check the oil at the dash and always get "Engine oil level OK" and that is the extent of it.

I still have to pull the instructions to find the sequence of pushing buttons to get to the right screen to reset the oil change alarm.

To answer your operating temp question from your other thread, I leave a scangauge II on the dash all the time, and the temp reading after soak varies between 89 and 91. The bar graph reads exactly halfway between 80 and the hash mark above it.

From memory...get exact oil reading as follows:

1. Start with 0 mph on screen (edit: on some cars you may need to start with temp).
2. Turn key to position 1
3. Press reset button 3 times...you will see voltage.
4. Press up arrow once
5. Turn key to position 2...after a few seconds the exact oil level will be displayed.

If it's of any help to you, shertex, after the purchase of my CDI, on it's return trip of almost 300 miles to my homebase, the ODC red alert illuminated indicating oil level was overfilled. So, that aspect of the CDI computer alert system on my 06 works well. In fact, it would illuminate on most every Interstate/expressway trip of any distance - as overfilled. THX for the sequence reminder above.

Thanks for this. Your step one is actually the temp reading, not mph.

I checked mine and it's 6.8 quarts. Either coincidence that's it's same as yours, or they all read 6.8!

No, on my car I have to start with mph....but I have read of others needing to start with temp. Perhaps an 05 vs. 06 difference?
